Student Summer Housing

Updated 14 April 2020

2020 Summer Housing Update

SIW recently received confirmation from the University that summer 2020 housing at Stanford in Washington will be suspended. In response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we unfortunately must close housing at our building in Washington, D.C. and cancel the Bing Fellowship Program for summer 2020. Given the nature of the Bing Fellowship Program, we are unable to offer funding for remote work.

The 10-week summer housing term runs from June 20th (move in) - August 29th (move out). The summer housing rate is $5,000 for the above-liste period in a two-room double with an en-suite bathroom. This prices includes room and board (meal plan). SIW is happy to work with you if you have a set summer stipend or financial concerns. Housing confirmations will be sent out in early April.

If you are a Stanford in Washington program alumnus and an enrolled student at Stanford, you may be eligible for the Helen and Peter Bing Summer Fellowship Program. This fellowship supports SIW alumni to help lessen the burden of a full-time unpaid summer internship to students on financial aid by providing funds for room and board in the SIW house. Students are required to live in the SIW house during the summer term. You may be eligible for a modified stipend if your internship is underpaid. Please check your email for details or email with any questions.

SIW may or may not be able to accommodate you beyond the dates above. If you are interested in staying beyond the 10-week summer housing period (before or after), please indicate your interest on the application form and SIW staff will be in contact with you.

Please email Robin Willscheidt, the Program Coordinator, at if you have any questions.
