Living in D.C.
Washington, D.C. is not only the home to the United States government, but also a cosmopolitan city with neighborhoods ranging from the hip to the historic.
While in Washington, D.C. you will have the opportunity to experience what life in the city has to offer. Some of the highlights are mentioned below, including cultural events available exclusively to students enrolled in the Bing Stanford in Washington Program. Students in the program also have the opportunity to connect with SIW alumni working in the D.C. area.
There was no other time during 'Stanford' that I had such exposure to as much astounding art and culture.
Ashley Hammerbacher, Winter 2015
Washington is not only the political capital of the world, but it is also an internationally recognized cultural center.
We are grateful to Helen and Peter Bing who have provided an endowment that supports not only the program, but also the many field trips and cultural events that are central to the BSIW Program experience.
Thanks to the generosity of the Bings, during their term in the BSIW Program students are able to attend a variety of cultural events, which may include:
the Washington National Opera
the National Symphony Orchestra
Plays at Arena Stage, the Folger Shakespeare Theater, or The Shakespeare Company
Tours of the National Gallery of Art and countless other D.C. Museums
...and many others! SIW welcomes student input to provide engaging cultural experiences and help students get to know D.C. and the surrounding area.
